TAUKTAE the extremely severe cyclone and its implications on building Resilence

Cyclone Tauktae has impacted all five states of the west coast—Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra and Gujarat. It intensified extremely rapidly from a Very Severe Cyclonic storm on Monday early morning to an Extremely Severe Cyclonic storm by 8.15 am, something that India Meteorological Department hadn’t forecast. A very warm Arabian Sea will result in many more cyclones. What we need to do is? 1.Prepare underground electric infrastructure 2.Mumbai Model of underground electricity model needs to be implemented in other cities and villages too . 3.Windspeed and storms of 100+kmph will become common owing to climate change...advance alerts need to be issued and nowcast systems needs to be revamped. 4. Complete curfews with punishments under Disaster Act need to be introduced for people going out for non essential purposes during a cyclone . 5.
